Bust Dollars were made from 1794 to 1804 and include sub-types as follows: --- Flowing Hair (1794-1795) --- Draped Bust, Small Eagle Reverse (1795-1798) --- Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle Reverse (1798-1804).
There are quite a few rarities in the Bust Dollar series. The 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar is from the first year the Mint struck regular issue silver coins and commands a handsome price in any grade.
The 1804 Bust Dollar is one of the most famous of all numismatic rarities and carries a million dollar plus price tag on the rare occasion that one surfaces!
Draped Bust, Centered Bust. Strong detail with choice light silver-gray surfaces.
Flowing Hair. 2 Leaves. Well detailed and problem-free with beautiful choice coin-gray surfaces. Outstanding for the grade and great eye appeal!
Small Date, Large Letters. B-4, BB-61. Sharp detail with pleasing light gray to medium blue-gray surfaces.
9x7 Stars, Large Letters. Well detailed and problem-free with natural coin-gray surfaces.
10x6 Stars. Pleasing steel-gray surfaces with a clean look for the grade and only honest wear. The lowest mintage Small Eagle Bust Dollar with a mere 7,776 struck.
Large Eagle. Well detailed with warm gray shaded surfaces.
Large Eagle. Well detailed with a smooth and clean appearance. Surfaces are an attractive battleship-gray.
BB-123. Heraldic Eagle. Well detailed with two-toned medium gray shading and surfaces with a clean appearance.
Large Eagle. A lovely early dollar with strong detail, a light gray core and rich golden-olive peripheral toning.
BB-120. Large Eagle Reverse. Very sharp detail with problem-free warm gray shaded surfaces that retain a trace of remnant luster.
Attractive steel-gray surfaces exhibit a pleasing problem-free look.
B-3. 15 Reverse Stars. Not noted on the holder, an interesting variety as the engraver initially carved 15 stars. He must have realized his error and then enlarged two of the clouds above the stars to try and hide his mistake. This is a pleasing coin with solid detail and natural steel-gray surfaces.
Well detailed with beautiful problem-free surfaces that are a pleasing medium gray.
Solid detail with light silver-gray surfaces. Noticeable luster remains.
BB-192, AMERICAI. An interesting variety with a die defect after the last A in AMERICA that looks like an I. This is a very attractive example with sharp detail and lustrous light silver-gray surfaces.
BB-196, 12 Arrows. Well detailed with medium steel-gray surfaces.
Well detailed with choice champagne-gray surfaces. Problem-free and noticeable luster remains.
BB-212. Well detailed with pleasing light gray surfaces. Only 54,454 minted - 1/8th the mintage of a 1799!
BB-242, Wide Date. Sharp, nearly full detail and beautiful light silver-white surfaces. Considerable mint luster remains on both sides. A modest mintage of only 41,650.
