Barber quarters were issued from 1892 to 1916. They were designed by Charles Barber and struck in Philadelphia, Denver, New Orleans, and San Francisco.
1896-S, 1901-S and 1913-S are the rarest dates of Barber Quarters. A 1901-S Barber Quarter demands several thousand dollars in even the lowest grade and is by far the rarest coin in the Barber Quarter series.
